Biker chic

Chris and I spent a bit of our Saturday on 5th checking out the new iPhone for him and pre-ordering the aforementioned knee high's for me. Fifth Avenue, though, is rarely a one-stop experience, craftily luring sartorial explorers in with clever window displays that seek to define the lifestyle the brand offers. While I don’t believe I’ve ever had the desire to be an edgy Italian biker, Chris (never one to listen to reasonable advice such as “take them to the tailor and have them patched) managed to rip a sizable hole in his Diesel’s recently, and wanted to find a replacement pair. While he perused the denim hoping to find his exact jeans sans-crotch-tear, I happened to find something in that store for the first time in…ever.

Diesel recently paired up with AGV to create this stylish helmet, complete with UV protection visor, zip-off leather neck roll, buckle like your old roller blades had, and a pretty awesome leather faux-mohawk. While the black, white and brown options are very sleek and decidedly diesel, the hunter with brown leather style harkened back to a Ralph Lauren fall aesthetic, and I was immediately hurled into a daydream, imagining myself in this helmet, on my Ural Limited Edition Gear Up Sahara, complete with sidecar for Toby in goggles and a wool scarf.

For now, however, the Ural dream will have to be shelved in favor of the more current uses I have for this DOT certified chapaux, such as something my size to wear on the back of Chris’ Harley or the quads. I’m thrilled to have found a helmet I love that fits me in both size and aesthetic, as apposed to donning one of Chris’ size large ones which wobbles around and causes me to resemble sputnik. So, ever the one to do things backwards, I suppose that now that I have my very own helmet, I should start saving for my very own bike to wear it on (and perhaps look into the rules of the road concerning puppy passengers)
